A. W. Tozer, on Isaiah's vision of God high and lifted up

About this Web Book

A Man Who Saw God on the Throne is a UECF.NET study companion to A. W. Tozer's sermon of the same name, built around Isaiah 6 — the prophet's vision of the Lord "high and lifted up" upon His throne. This Web Book walks through the message section by section: the vision itself, the sovereignty and holiness of God, Isaiah's undone-ness before it, his cleansing, his call, and Tozer's closing word on what a Christian shaped by such a vision looks like.

This is a study companion, not a copy of the sermon transcript. Tozer's original message is copyrighted material, shared for ministry use by SermonIndex.net. UECF.NET summarizes and reflects on the sermon's content and Scripture in its own words, quotes only briefly and with attribution, and links to the original recording, transcript and PDF at SermonIndex.net for anyone who wants the full message in Tozer's own words.

    About the author

Aiden Wilson Tozer (1897–1963) was a self-taught American pastor, editor and author who led Southside Alliance Church in Chicago for over thirty years and edited the Christian and Missionary Alliance's Alliance Weekly. Among the more than forty books he wrote, The Pursuit of God (1948) and The Knowledge of the Holy remain enduring Christian classics of the devotional life. This sermon, “A Man Who Saw God on the Throne,” comes from his recorded preaching ministry rather than his written books.

    About this study companion

UECF.NET builds a study companion, rather than reproducing the transcript, whenever a Tozer message is still in copyright — the same approach used elsewhere in this library for works such as R. C. Sproul's The Holiness of God and Dietrich Bonhoeffer's The Cost of Discipleship. Each chapter here follows the sermon's own order of thought; direct quotations from Tozer are kept brief and marked as quotations; Scripture is quoted in full from the King James Version, the translation Tozer read from in the message. No sentence of the sermon transcript is reproduced at length, and nothing in the summary adds content, arguments or Scripture references that are not in the original message.

Every Scripture reference in this Web Book was checked against the sermon's own description and against the King James Bible text before publication: Isaiah 6:1–8, Isaiah 33:14–16, Ezekiel 1:4–5, Hebrews 12:29 and James 1:17.
